Welcome to my blogging 101 series, where I share the steps I took to launch my very own blog, Sonia Begonia. Starting this blog was essentially creating an extension of myself, so naturally, I wanted it to be perfect. I made quite a few errors along the way, of which have taught me the ins and outs of the art of blogging. You will too, and there may be many iterations of your blog within the first year. That’s a-okay.
This is a free series (obviously), but there are a couple great books out there that would supplement my “course” nicely. Check out The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers, Learn How to Become a Blogger, and Blogging for Beginners (just to name a few).
Okay, back to it. There are two overarching purposes of starting a blog… 1) Hobby 2) Business. If you want to launch your very own platform to share your thoughts and everyday life for leisure and pleasure, that’s awesome! These tips will still come in handy. If you’re launching a blog as a business, then well, that’s awesome too! You will definitely want to read this series, as I break down the art of creating a WordPress blog.
Not sure which purpose you want to pursue? Let me put it into perspective. For the first year of Sonia Begonia, I was simply experimenting and building my blog as a hobby. It wasn’t until I had a heart-to-heart with my mentor, that I realized my blog needed to become a brand. Sonia Begonia needed to become a business. I needed to treat it as such, while still sticking true to me and my love of creating fashion-oriented, inspiration-driven posts.
So before you sign up for anything, figure out your purpose. Your blog’s purpose. Either way, let your platform be a place for you to express yourself. And most of all, inspire creativity in yourself and others. After all, that’s what blogging is all about.
